On February 28th Minnesota’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension reported that concealed carry permits in 2013 nearly doubled compared to the number issued in 2012.

According to CBS Minnesota, “60,471 concealed carry permits were issued in 2013, compared to 31,657 issued in 2012.”

This brings the total number of concealed carry permits in the state to “about 165,000.”

Minnesota law enforcement agencies reported 1,023 crimes committed by persons with these permits in 2013, but the majority of these “were drunken driving or other traffic offenses.”

The top five counties for the issuance of concealed carry in 2013 were Hennepin, Anoka, Dakota, Ramsey, and Washington.
