On the floor of the Senate, Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid insisted that anyone who had the temerity to complain about the tremendously higher costs of Obamacare or are upset over their canceled insurance polices despite being told by the President that they could keep them are lying. Unsurprisingly, Reid is getting slammed for his accusation.

During his taunting on the Senate floor on February 26, Reid attacked detractors of Obamacare saying, “there’s plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue, but they’re being told all over America.”

Of course, for months both local and national media have been detailing stories of Americans with cancelled insurance plans, patients who have lost their doctors, can’t get medicines, have found that premiums are thousands a year higher with deductibles double and triple what they once were, or have found that their new plans aren’t being accepted by any doctors in their areas.

Yet, Reid is sure all these thousands of Americans are lying.

Unsurprisingly, Reid’s partisan attack on thousands of Americans drew sharp criticism.

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips was incensed, saying that Reid,”attacked the character and integrity of every American who had the courage to share how they’re being hurt by the president’s health care law.”

Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson said Reid’s comments were “astounding and offensive.”

Senator John Thune (R-SD) demanded an apology. “The majority leader, and any Democrat who agrees with him, owes an apology to all Americans who are suffering under this disastrous law and whose personal stories he has dismissed as ‘untrue,'” Thune said.

Missouri’s Senator Roy Blunt (R) also wanted an apology but wanted to know if Reid is calling all his constituents liars.

“A fair question for the Majority Leader’s office today: Does Harry Reid believe Missourians are making this up?” Blunt office said in a statement.
