On Monday, Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) used Martin Luther King Jr. day to push for amnesty.
Appearing on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports, Lewis said that in honor of King, Congress had to focus on issues of economic justice and amnesty even though the Congressional Budget Office has determined that the pathway to citizenship provision in comprehensive immigration reform legislation would lower the wages of American workers.
“The other great need is for us in Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform,” Lewis said before saying that “if Dr. King were here today, he would be traveling and preaching all across America” for amnesty.
Lewis said that King would be preaching on behalf of the nearly 12 million illegal immigrants in America because “there is no such thing as illegal human beings.”
