Obamacare Glitches Leave Over 100,000 Medicaid, CHIP Applicants in Limbo

Thanks to continuing glitches on the federal Obamacare exchange website, over 100,000 Americans who signed up for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) remain uninsured.

According to the Washington Post, the Obama administration is personally calling attempted enrollees in 21 states asking them to reapply through their state Medicaid programs. Because Medicaid coverage requires no payments, however, it can be made retroactive, so those who are uncovered will still be covered as of January 1.

Nonetheless, the chaos within the Obamacare system continues unabated, with state officials across the country panicking about the situation. “It is not going to be easy,” said Idaho Department of Health and Welfare spokesman Thomas Shanahan. Obamacare sign-up numbers have been inflated by enrollment of hundreds of thousands of Americans into Medicaid.
