Scott Brown Eyes Senate Seat from New NH Home

The Boston Herald reported Thursday that former Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) is now officially a resident of New Hampshire.

“We are living here now,” Brown’s wife Gail Huff told Herald reporter Hilary Chabot in a story filed from Rye, New Hampshire, where Brown and Huff have owned a vacation home for many years.

“If you look inside our Wrentham, Massachusetts house, it’s empty.” Huff added. “We’re here until we decide our next move.”

There are several indications that Brown intends to announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination to replace Senator Jean Shaheen (D-NH) in the 2014 election. There also appears to be significant support among several Republican groups who are encouraging Brown to enter the race.

The Herald reported Thursday “[a] Super PAC began running ads attacking Shaheen and urging Brown to jump in the race, and the Rye town clerk reportedly said Brown plans on registering as a voter soon.”

Brown was the featured speaker Thursday in Nashua, New Hampshire, at the annual holiday party of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee. In addition, as Breitbart News reported Tuesday, the managing partner at Brown’s current employer, the Boston-based legal firm of Nixon Peabody LLC, suggested that Brown’s tenure at that firm may be short lived.

Brown defeated Attorney General Martha Coakley in a special election held to replace the late Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) in the United States Senate in January 2010. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) defeated Brown in his November 2012 bid for re-election.
