President Obama, in his most incoherent press conference yet, described the ugly rollout of Obamacare as a mere fumble. “That’s on me … we fumbled the rollout on this health-care law,” he said, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

He’s wrong of course. The disastrous first months of Obamacare are not a mistake. The law is working as liberals designed it to work: cancelling millions of health plans and forcing Americans onto unaffordable government plans in barely-functioning government marketplaces. This is the core of Obamacare.

The reason Obama looked like such a buffoon on Thursday is that there is simply no way for him to explain why his law is causing this mess without enraging the American public. Instead, Obama must alternate between explaining why he isn’t stupid and informing us that buying insurance isn’t as simple as buying songs on iTunes.

“I’m accused of a lot of things, but I don’t think I’m stupid enough to go around saying, ‘This is going to be like shopping on Amazon or Travelocity’ a week before the Web site opens if I thought that it wasn’t going to work,” he said. Obama, of course, did compare signing up for Obamacare to buying airline tickets on the Internet. His explanation: “I was not informed directly that the Web site would not be working…the way it was supposed to.”

Not “informed directly”? So he was informed indirectly? Did he hear Biden whispering in the hallway? Did Sebelius pass him a note during recess? What a ridiculously childish excuse for misleading the American people. Obama’s excuse for his ‘if you like your plan, you can keep it’ lie was even more absurd. Despite uttering it dozens of times over the past four years, the President now claims his statement “ended up not being accurate.” What hogwash! The statement was false when he said it the first time and it was false every other time he said it too. Obamacare was never going to let people keep their insurance – it was right there in the black-and-white text of the bill. Liberals would know this if they’d bothered to read it.

Conservatives warned from the beginning that the government was going to force people out of their insurance policies but were shouted down by biased media “fact-checkers” who were more concerned with giving Obama the benefit of the doubt than reading the actual law. Unfortunately for everyday Americans, Obamacare is coming home to roost, and the President and liberal Democrats are left flailing about, desperate to keep the American people from holding them accountable.
