Hillary in 2007: 'If You Have a Plan You Like, You Keep It'

Hillary Clinton may want to tell her husband to shut up. Bill Clinton savaged Barack Obama in a widely quoted interview with OZY, saying in reference to ObamaCare, “I personally believe, even if it takes a change in the law, the president should honor the commitment that the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got.”

Here is the problem for Hillary: when she ran against Obama in 2007 for the Democratic presidential nomination, she had an unusual mantra for her own health care proposal that might sound a bit familiar: “If you have a plan you like, you keep it.”

The line that made Obama infamous was borrowed from the prospective 2016 Democratic nominee. Clinton said on Sept. 17, 2007 at the Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, “You can keep the doctors you know and trust. You keep the insurance you have. If you have private insurance you like, nothing changes — you can keep that insurance.”

Hillary previously tried in 1993 to launch a health care plan as First Lady, but it ultimately failed. In 2007, her idea was to offer what members of Congress with average benefits received akin to a standard Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. But the standards required of health insurance for Americans would have had the same disastrous results as ObamaCare, with hundreds of thousands of Americans left without insurance.
