In what could be a watershed moment for ObamaCare, former-President Bill Clinton said Tuesday that “Even if it takes a change to the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got.”
Vulnerable Democrats, especially the 15 Senators up for re-election next year, have already started to break with the White House’s bunker mentality in defending ObamaCare. It is a potential game changer to have a former Democrat president, especially one as active and respected as Clinton, suggest this kind of change to the ObamaCare law.
Clinton might merely be towing the administration line about a coming “fix” to this problem, but Clinton is talking about changing the law itself, not engaging in an administrative fix.
Clinton is also all but saying that Obama lied when he promised people they could keep their insurance.
Bill Clinton can see the writing on the wall, and doesn’t want Hillary having to be in the unenviable position of either having to defend this debacle, or risk losing the base by opposing it, while running for president.
Better ObamaCare implode before Hillary has to deal with it is what Bill is likely thinking, and his comments today will surely nudge the implosion along.
