On Wednesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded that the enrollment numbers for Obamacare’s first month will be “quite low” when they are released next week.
In response to Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) at a Senate Finance Committee Hearing, Sebelius said, “the enrollment numbers, which we will release next week, which will be the first month of enrollment, are likely to be quite low, given the struggles that people have had getting access to the site and getting information.”
When asked if she thought the numbers would be higher in November and December, Sebelius said that though she hoped the numbers would be more “robust,” the Obama administration would have “trouble” getting “significant numbers” to sign up so long as the website is malfunctioning.
