On Wednesday, CNN reported that the Obama administration has pressured insurance industry executives to keep quiet about Obamacare’s failures.
Drew Griffin of the CNN Special Investigations Unit reported that “what’s going on is [a] behind-the-scenes attempt by the White House to at least keep insurers from publicly criticizing what is happening under this Affordable Care Act rollout. Basically,” Griffin continued, “if you speak out, if you are quoted, you’re going to get a call from the White House; pressure to be quiet.”
Griffin added that “several sources tell me and my colleague Chris Frates that insurance executives are being told to keep quiet.”
Bob Laszewski of Health Policy and Strategy Associates, a health insurance consulting firm based in Alexandria, Virginia, confirmed the CNN report. “The White House is exerting massive pressure on the industry, including the trade associations, to keep quiet,” he stated.
In addition to the well documented performance problems of the Healthcare.gov website, reports are coming in now that the true number of people who have enrolled in Obamacare on the Healthcare.gov website is anemic.
On Thursday, Fox News reporter Ed Henry told Megyn Kelly on The Kelly File that it appears only six people actually signed up on the website’s first full day of operation, October 2.
Laszewski, also appearing on Thursday’s The Kelly File, said that “clearly the White House does not want insurance companies talking about what’s going [on] here.” He added that “given what was released tonight, the news that so very few people are signing up, you can see why.”
News that the White House is intimidating health insurance executives into silence is just the latest example of the widespread abuse of executive authority that continues to be exercised throughout the Obama administration.
Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer has documented numerous similar incidents in his new book, Exortion: How Politicians Extract Your Money, Buy Votes, and Line Their Own Pockets.
Schweizer told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Thursday, “In Extortion, I expose how Washington politicians use mafia-style legislative tactics to scare individuals and industries into paying ‘protection money’ in the form of campaign donations.”
Breitbart News reported that two prominent examples of such intimidation of industries included a “political extortion tactic known as a ‘double milker bill’ to ‘milk’ millions in donations by pitting Obama’s friends in Hollywood against his supporters in Silicon Valley to extract cash from both.”
A second example was “how Attorney General Eric Holder has increased Foreign Corrupt Practices Act enforcement actions 65% over the previous administration in order to enrich his former employer and target Republicans.”
