Author John Grisham Donated $50,000 to McAuliffe

Best selling author John Grisham, who lives part of the year in the exclusive residential area of North Garden in the outskirts of Charlottesville, Virginia, donated $50,000 to Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe’s Virginia gubernatorial campaign, according to campaign financial records posted at the Virginia Public Access Project.

Grisham donated $25,000 to McAuliffe on March 28, 2013 and another $25,000 on September 18, 2013.

A lifelong Democrat, Grisham was elected as a State Representative to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 1983 and served there until 1990.

Grisham has written more than 23 best selling novels, most of which are legal thrillers set in the South. His 2012 book, The Racketeer, was almost entirely set in the Commonwealth of Virginia and featured a corrupt judge as one of the main characters.

Perhaps Mr. Grisham’s next thriller will be titled “The Governor.” Mr. McAuliffe’s long string of controversial business dealings combined with the ongoing investigations of his role as chairman of GreenTech Automotive could certainly provide Mr. Grisham with a number of “ripped from the headlines” story lines.
