Calling Obamacare a “disaster” and a “train wreck” on September 30, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she still believed Obamacare was unconstitutional because it violates the Commerce Clause of the Constitution.
“I believe it is unconstitutional because it violates the commerce clause,” Palin said on the debut of Gretchen Carlson’s Real Story. “The federal government really has no right in telling us what we should and should not purchase.”
The Supreme Court rejected the Obama administration’s broad interpretation of the Commerce Clause but ultimately saved Obamacare by ruling that the individual mandate was a “tax” in a 5-4 ruling in 2012.
