On Thursday, security for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may have taken away smartphones from people who attended her speech because they feared some in the audience would protest her handling of the Benghazi scandal in which four Americans were murdered by terrorists nearly a year ago.
Clinton was in Miami to address a travel agents convention, and Andrew Rothberg, who was in the audience, “had his Galaxy Note II smartphone taken from him by security, which removed his picture of Clinton onstage.” This incident happened in front of a Miami Herald reporter.
Rothberg told the Herald that “he guessed at one point that Clinton’s handlers might have wanted to control the event to keep activists from infiltrating the event and raising awareness about issues like the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012.” Security at the event was also on the lookout for “people taking pictures or making recordings” because “none was allowed.”
Clinton made her speech on the day when the House Government and Oversight Reform Committee had a hearing with the heads of the Benghazi Accountability Review Board (ARB), which never interviewed Clinton.
Two parents of the Benghazi victims also went before the Committee. Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, and Charles Woods, the father of Ty Woods, testified about how President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have deceived them about what happened in Benghazi more than a year ago.
Clinton, who may run for president in 2016 and whose handlers are mindful of controlling her image, reportedly did not address Benghazi during her speech.
