Citizens United's Bossie: Boehner, Cantor Standing in Way of Benghazi Investigation

Citizens United President David Bossie blasted the House Republican leadership for standing in the way of the Benghazi investigation by not creating a Select Committee. 

Appearing on Breitbart News’ broadcast of the “Exempt America” rally on Tuesday with Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, Bossie said House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) have “lost their way,” and that is why conservatives are becoming more fed up with their leadership in the House. He said Benghazi, like Obamacare, was yet another example of the feckless GOP leadership. 

“They are seeing us being sold out,” Bossie said. “The majority of the Republican conference in the House of Representatives is being sold out on a daily basis.”

Bossie said today’s GOP leadership reminds him of the days of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) in the last decade, who he said gave away the store to ensure that pork was not taken out of bills. Bossie said the Republican leadership wants to do everything except listen to the conservative movement that put them in office and their positions of power, and he cited their unwillingness to defund Obamacare as prime example. 

Bossie said Boehner and Cantor are “not willing to fight to use the closure of the federal government” to defund Obamacare, and he said Boehner gave away all the leverage he had when he indicated to the White House that he had no intention to ever shut down the government.

On Benghazi, Bossie said it is “devastating” that “Boehner is the person standing in the way” of a Select Committee even though an overwhelming majority of Republicans would like one formed to get the truth about the Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans. 

Bossie said Boehner and Cantor do not want Americans to know what happened in Benghazi. 

“I hold them personally accountable,” Bossie said, noting that if the “Speaker of the House won’t rise and take this on, we need to change the Speaker of the House.”
