9/11 Bikers Ride Into D.C.

A large contingent of motorcycle riders rolled into Washington D.C. on Wednesday as sign of support to the victims of the 9/11 attacks 12 years ago, as well as honoring the four Americans who were killed during the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya last year.

The bikers, who hoped to attract 2 million riders to their cause, were denied a permit for a police escort from local D.C. authorities. While the group fell short of their number, Breitbart News rode along with the bikers on part of their route and saw the turnout was still excellent. The lack of a permit, however, did pose logistical problems for the planned activities.

Bobby, a biker from Maryland, said:

Well the first thing was, we were supposed to go from Fort Washington and go straight into town and do a procession around the monuments to show our support to everyone that died on 9/11. Apparently, too many bikes showed up and they dispersed on the beltway to make a whole loop around the beltway and it separated everybody.

He continued, “So now you’ve got little three man groups coming in all at one time. So it’s not an actual parade, like it was supposed to have been. They cut everybody off. So we couldn’t do what we intended to do.”

However, Bobby stressed the importance of the riders coming to D.C. on the anniversary of 9/11, saying, “It’s time we’ve done something, because things are getting way out of control out here.”

Another rally organized by the American Muslim Political Action Committee proposed that one million attendees would be their event, but according to reports, only 30 to 100 people at the most appeared at the rally.

“I came to ride today for a number of reasons. Number one to remember [9/11] first responders and those that lost their lives on 9/11 so many yearsago. I was down in D.C. [when it happened], so I get goose bumps just talking about it,” said Jerry Ceasel of southern Maryland “It was just a collaboration of a lot of people coming together. We had over 10,000 people come together today at Fort Washington and started to ride out there.”

Ceasel continued, “We wanted to have some unity. Since that day we haven’t had much unity. I think there was more unity today than there has been since that year, collectively like this,” Ceasel said, adding, “It was an opportunity to be heard. Whether being heard through the exhaust pipes or through [Breitbart News] here or whatever media outlets you want to listen from, regardless of whatever your affiliation mightbe. Just to be heard.”
