NAACP Chairwoman Roslyn Brock said Obamacare and access to affordable healthcare is “one of the most pressing civil rights issues for this generation” during her remarks on the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech on Wednesday.
She said Obamacare is the law of the land and opponents of fairness “resist our noble cause.” Brock also said that “when it comes to health equity and access, courage will not skip this generation.”
Opponents of Obamacare like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) have asserted Obamacare actually hurts the country’s most vulnerable people, including blacks, Hispanics, and youth who are struggling to find jobs because it is causing employers to cut jobs and reduce hours.
