Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said on CNN’s State of the Union that it would take a “grassroots tsunami” in September to convince lawmakers to defund Obamacare.
He said the rise of the grassroots that causes Republicans and Democrats to listen to the people has made “Washington very uncomfortable.”
“It’s going to take a tsunami, and I am going to do everything I can to encourage that tsunami,” Cruz said, noting that Obamacare is actually hurting the most vulnerable Americans–like the young, Hispanics, African-Americans, and single moms–who are losing their jobs.
Cruz said the battle to defund Obamacare would “heat up” in September, when Congress must pass another resolution to continue funding the government before September 30. He has urged House Republicans to pass a bill to fund the government except for Obamacare and then convince Americans that President Barack Obama and Democrats would rather shut down the government than give the Obamacare exemptions special interests and big businesses have received to all Americans.
