Weiner Sags, Quinn and de Blasio Rise in Poll

Embattled New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner is fourth in a new Marist poll of likely Democratic voters that was released on Thursday.

The poll found that City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and public advocate Bill de Blasio were tied at 24 percent. Former comptroller Bill Thompson is at 18 percent and Weiner is at 11 percent. In a Quinnipiac poll released earlier in the week, de Blasio led with 30 percent of the vote. 

Weiner was the only candidate who was viewed more unfavorably than favorably among Democrats, at 63 percent. In July, 55 percent of voters said they found Weiner to be unfavorable. 

The primary election is September 10, and there will be a runoff on Oct. 1

between the top two if no candidate gets more than 40% of the vote. The general election will be held on Nov. 5.

Marist polled 355 likely Democratic voters from Aug. 12-14, and the poll has a margin of error of +/- 5.2 percentage points.
