'Million Muslim March' Scheduled for 9/11 Anniversary Draws Outrage

Outrage is being voiced against a “Million Muslim March” scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2013.

Critics say the group has picked the wrong day on which to hold this event, being the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon twelve years ago. The date also marks the somber anniversary of the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi.

In response to all the outrage and indignation being voiced over the march, event organizers in the American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC) say the lives of Muslims in America were changed by September 11, 2001 attacks as well and they want to call attention to it.

Fox News carried a statement released by the group in which they said: 

Muslim and non-Muslim alike were traumatized [by 9/11/01] but we as Muslims continue 12 years later to be victimized by being made the villains. To this day every media outlet and anti-Islamic organization has committed slanderous and libel against us as Muslims and our religion of Islam.

Yet our government either sits idly by and does nothing to protect our freedoms or it exacerbates the problem with its constant war on terrorism in Islamic countries, congressional hearings on Islam in America, and its changes to the NDAA law.

Islamic Forum For Democracy president Dr. Zuhdi Jasser responded to these claims by describing the event organizers in AMPAC as “a bunch of ‘truthers’ who think America’s to blame for everything.” He said certain leaders who plan to take part in the march “are problematic” and are “trying to exploit 9/11.”
