After disgraced New York Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner intimated that Hillary Clinton is gearing up for a run for the White House, the Clinton camp immediately came out to say they had “no clue” what Weiner was talking about.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Anthony Weiner hinted that Hillary was starting up her campaign for the Democrat nomination for president and that his wife, Huma Abedin, was going to play a part in that effort. Huma is, of course, a long time Hillary aide and her one-time chief of staff.

When asked if he knew what role Huma would have in Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign, Weiner said, “I do,” suggesting Clinton is indeed preparing for another presidential run. He refused to provide more details saying, “I’m not telling you.”

Only a day later, the candidate backtracked on his claim and said that he had no inside knowledge on the nascent Hillary campaign. Weiner claimed he was just joking.

“Have you ever heard that sometimes people say, ‘Yes, but if I tell you I’d have to kill you?'” Weiner said on August 13. “It was a joke, everyone laughed, it was a joke.”

Regardless, the Clinton camp immediately came out and disavowed Weiner’s claims. Clinton aide Nick Merrill told ABC News, “We have absolutely no clue what he was talking about.”

Weiner apologized again, saying that in the future he would “try to make the jokes more obvious.”
