On Friday, President Obama said that he had strengthened border security, that the Senate bill included too much funding for border security, and urged the House to pass an immigration reform package.
With regard to problems in the Senate immigration bill, he stated, “There are very few human problems that are 100% solvable.” The Senate bill, he said, “strengthens border security… reforms our legal immigration system… holds employers accountable.”
He finished by blaming “internal Republican caucus politics” for a failure of immigration reform. He claimed there was a “pretty broad consensus” on immigration reform. “Let’s get it done,” he stated.
