Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said on Monday that opponents of “comprehensive immigration reform” in the House could “make the most difference” by specifically pressuring House Republicans in South Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio now and during the August recess.

After he addressed the D.C. March for Jobs rally, King made his remarks when he spoke to Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon on Breitbart News’ exclusive broadcast of the event, which the Black American Leadership Alliance organized. Working class Americans of all backgrounds came to D.C. to rally against the Senate’s immigration bill.

King said it was critical to pressure Republican Members of Congress against passing comprehensive immigration reform and, in particular, legalization for illegal immigrants. He said opponents of immigration reform are trying to ensure a bill is not brought to the floor in July and that it was critical for voters to go to as many town halls as they can when Members go back to their districts.

He emphasized that instead of focusing on flawed immigration reform measures, elected Representatives should focus on unleashing the millions of Americans who are currently not in the workforce instead of on flooding the country with more cheap labor from abroad.
