Earlier this week, GOP political consultant Karl Rove attacked Breitbart News–inaccurately–during a Fox News Channel appearance. Rove had singled out a story from Breitbart News’ Big Government editor Mike Flynn as “simply not true” on the air. Flynn has subsequently debunked Rove’s claim.
Even so, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) helped Rove push the false claim when he first made it. Corker published video of Rove on his YouTube page and issued a press release saying Rove had exonerated previously inaccurate claims he made during the Fox News appearance.
“Karl Rove Dispels Myths About the Hoeven-Corker Amendment,” Corker’s office said in the headline of a press release this week. The YouTube video posting bore the same headline.
After Corker’s office republished Rove’s false attack on Breitbart News, Breitbart News’ Kerry Picket found Corker in the Capitol and asked him why he thought Rove was an immigration reform expert worthy of touting. Corker responded by saying he had no idea why Rove is an expert on immigration.
The exchange between Picket and Corker went as follows:
PICKET: “Your press office sent out some talking points showing Karl Rove discussing positives of the amendment. How is he such an expert on the bill?”
CORKER: “I don’t know. You’d have to talk with them.”
Breitbart News’ Kerry Picket and Mike Flynn contributed to this report.
