A chain of 10 Philadelphia Shop Rite supermarkets is offering their own version of a gun buy-back program. Between 10am and 2pm Saturday, and with no questions asked, you can turn a firearm in at the Deliverance Evangelistic Church in exchange for a $100 Shop Rite gift card.
Jeffrey Brown, president and CEO of the chain, told CBS Philly, “Guns affect my customers, my employees on a daily basis[.] There’s a fear of being hurt. And if we can do something to make that a little better, we would like to not be on the sidelines.”
Local police will be on hand to collect and eventually destroy the firearms.
