Data compiled by Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Jeff Sessions’ (R-AL) staff reveal that over the next ten years taxpayers will spend over five times as much on food stamps as on job training and education for America’s veterans.
Food stamp enrollments have skyrocketed under President Barack Obama. In January 2009, 31.9 million Americans were on food stamps. Today, 47.7 million people are on the welfare program. Indeed, a record 23,116,441 households in America are now on food stamps.
Part of the explosive growth in food stamp enrollments is explained by the Obama Administration’s aggressive advertising and marketing campaign to promote enrollments.
As the chart below demonstrates, spending on food stamp advertising and promotion has increased dramatically over the last decade.
In 2013, taxpayers are expected to pay $82 billion for food stamp recipients.
