On Thursday, during a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on a new bill to ban abortions in the United States after 20 weeks of pregnancy, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) continued the abortion advocates’ illogical position that funding a “Planned Parenthood clinic in every neighborhood” would rid the nation of Kermit Gosnells.
The notorious murder trial of “House of Horrors” abortionist Kermit Gosnell has led both individual states and members of Congress to turn their attention to the regulation of the practice of abortion. Questions abound regarding how Gosnell was, for decades, able to get away with the murders of babies born alive during abortion procedures, as well as the horrific conditions discovered in his clinic.
Yet, pro-abortion politicians, anxious to remain in control of a stronghold cultural issue as well as a successful politically co-dependent relationship with the abortion industry, are sticking to the meme that, in order to stop future Gosnells, we need more abortion clinics and less restriction of abortion.
“I would urge my colleagues to think about the extent to which he, Dr. Gosnell, represented the poor quality of health care services available in poorer communities,” Nadler said. “We should be working to make sure that high quality health care is provided to the uninsured to make sure the full range of health care services, including family planning services that are available to people with money are available to the poor and uninsured as well.”
Nadler, one of two Democrats present at the hearing, added, “If that means funding a Planned Parenthood clinic in every neighborhood to put guys like Gosnell out of business, so be it.”
Calling upon the “war on women” meme once again, Nadler, who has a 100% voting record with NARAL, referred to the hearing as a “farce” and “just another battle of the Republican war on women.”
Rep. Nadler’s statements are illogical, mainly because the statements he made are the very same ones used by abortion supporters who told the nation that the Supreme Court needed to decriminalize abortion in 1973. Kermit Gosnell was able to perform abortions because of the Roe v. Wade decision, which, supposedly, took abortion out of the “back alley” and, finally, made it “legal” and “safe.”
As we’ve discovered recently, Roe v. Wade seems to have only made abortion “non-transparent.” Contrary to what Nadler expects Americans to believe, an abortion clinic next to every neighborhood grocery store won’t make Gosnells disappear, because the real problem is that Gosnell, like many other abortionists, had not been monitored, either by the state of Pennsylvania or by Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation (NAF), when complaints and problems at Gosnell’s clinic became known to these organizations.
The fact is the abortion industry does not wish to be regulated or monitored, and politicians and state agencies have frequently, and conveniently, overlooked investigation of abortion clinics because it was the “politically correct” thing to do. The closest thing to the truth that former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) could say is that government oversight of Gosnell’s clinic got caught up in “bureaucratic incompetence.”
So, if women are in danger seeking abortions at clinics like Gosnell’s, and the state of Pennsylvania was conveniently caught up in “bureaucratic” red tape while Planned Parenthood and NAF were shrugging their shoulders, tell us again who is waging a “war on women?”
As for Gosnell being an “outlier,” he already has other names. Douglas Karpen, LeRoy Carhart, Robert Alexander, and Nicola Riley are only a few of the abortionists who have recently been under investigation. In addition, the true condition of abortion clinics in the country is gradually being revealed; a recent example being the announcement by Maryland’s Department of Health on Friday that most of the state’s abortion clinics were found to be in violation of state health regulations.
Rep. Nadler said Thursday’s congressional hearing on a bill to ban abortion after 20 weeks was a “farce.” The real “farce,” however, is continuing to manipulate women into believing that abortion is “safe,” when, in reality, the “safety” referred to is that of politicians and the abortion industry.
