Judge in George Zimmerman Case Bars Damaging Martin Info

Judge Debra S. Nelson, who is the judge in the George Zimmerman trial for shooting Trayvon Martin, has barred some rather interesting information from being disclosed to the jury. Here is a list of what we know so far:

1. Lawyers can ask potential jurors about their marijuana use but may not include in their opening statements information regarding Trayvon Martin’s marijuana use, school problems, and his history of fighting.
2. No use of photo of Martin’s gold teeth in opening statements, either.
3. No reference to Martin’s school records, including suspensions and “aggressive” texts in opening statements. Nelson said they are “prejudicial and inadmissible” in court.
4. No text messages and pictures showing Martin smoking, either, during opening statements.
5. No photos of a hand holding a gun taken from Trayvon Martin’s phone can be admitted during opening statements.
