District of Corruption, Judicial Watch’s hard-hitting documentary about the rampant corruption in Washington, D.C. and within the Obama administration, will premiere on national television on June 17, 2013 at 8 p.m. EDT on AXS TV, reaching 41 million households. There will be an encore at 11 p.m., and the film will also air on HDNet movies this fall.
Breitbart News executive chairman and director Stephen K. Bannon wrote and directed the film, and it was co-produced by Breitbart contributor Dan Fleuette.
The film, which provides an inside account of the Obama administration’s scandals ranging from Fast and Furious to Solyndra, will debut on national television as the Obama administration is dealing with its trifecta of scandals (Benghazi, AP/Fox News/Rosen, IRS) that have rocked the administration.
The movie is a companion to Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton’s New York Times best-selling book, The Corruption Chronicles: Obama’s Big Secrecy, Big Corruption, and Big Government, which was released in 2012. The watchdog organization has held the federal government to account since the Clinton administration and has relentlessly battled Democrats and Republicans to get information they did not want the public to see.
Fitton said he was “grateful to our partners at AXS TV for providing a platform to reach and educate millions of Americans.”
“Benghazi-gate and the IRS scandals are the latest examples of the D.C. corruption crisis. And anyone who wants to truly understand the truth about this and more must look behind today’s headlines,” Fitton said. “District of Corruption is the most sweeping attempt to date to examine political corruption–in both political parties. And make no mistake; this film is as factual and compelling a film on this out-of-control Obama administration as you will see.”
Mark Cuban, AXS TV Chairman, said the film is “dynamic and unsparing of politicians all across the board” at a time when there is “an enormous amount of public interest in the subject of political corruption, so I’m confident that District of Corruption will find an audience on our network.”
“District of Corruption is bound to get Americans talking,” Cuban said.
Bannon said the team “decided from the outset that we could not and would not pull a single punch in making this film.”
“This film goes far beyond high-adrenaline, emotionally compelling entertainment. This is about saving our institutions of government from the corruption and cronyism that threatens their existence,” he said. “We intend to initiate a seismic shift in the public policy and cultural landscape.”
The film features Breitbart’s Mike Flynn, Kerry Picket, and Sonnie Johnson. It also features Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI); J. Christian Adams; David Webb, a contributor to Breitbart News’ “The Conversation” vertical; and Fitton.
In 2012, before Obama was reelected, Fox News’ “Hannity” had a highly-rated one-hour special on the movie, which “chronicles Judicial Watch’s epic battles against corruption through three presidential administrations (Clinton, Bush, Obama)” and focuses most intensely on the Obama administration’s scandals, including: “Operation Fast and Furious; crony capitalism; Solyndra and other ‘green energy’ projects; federal bailouts and earmarks; ACORN and voter fraud; illegal alien amnesty; and threats to the integrity of the 2012 elections; as well as new attacks on government transparency and accountability.”
