The Boston Globe reported on Wednesday that “three college students have been arrested by federal authorities in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings.” The Globe cited “a law enforcement official familiar with the case,” as their source.
Wednesday morning the Boston Police Department tweeted that three suspects had been arrested. Police Department spokesperson Cheryl Fiandaca confirmed the tweet to the Associated Press, but referred further inquiries to the FBI.
Citing a different source, the Globe reported that “[t]he three people were connected to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, the surviving bomb suspect, at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where Tsarnaev was a student. They allegedly helped him after the bombing.”
The Boston Police Department commented on the arrests Wednesday morning in a statement that said simply “Additional details will be provided when they become available.”
