The Democratic Party official who accused two Progress Kentucky activists of recording a conversation between Sen. Mitch McConnell and campaign aides is now retracting his allegations against one of the two men, saying his memory may have been faulty, according to Politico and the Louisville Courier-Journal.
Jacob Conway originally said that he had spoken to both Curtis Morrison and Shawn Reilly about the alleged recording. Now he says that he may not have spoken to Reilly at all. “I had a lot of conversations with both of them during that time period, and maybe I was just confused, and maybe Shawn never said anything,” he said, according to the Courier-Journal.
Morrisson has a long history of left-wing activism. As Breitbart News’ Michael Patrick Leahy revealed last week, Morrisson was one of the organizers of Occupy Louisville in 2011. Leahy also noted that Morrisson had been listed as a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC.
Morrisson left Progress Kentucky in early March. The recording occurred in February, possibly in violation of state law. Reilly’s lawyer had questioned Conway’s account, as well as his credibility, noting that Conway had faced accusations of theft in 2005 and 2006.
