Stacy Clark, former air traffic controller at Sacramento Executive Airport, says that the Federal Aviation Administration’s decision to shut down a control tower at the airport could lead to casualties. “I don’t want to say I told you so,” he told CBS Local. According to Clark, there are too many pilots on the runways for the depleted air traffic controller staff to handle.
“You get this nose to nose thing all the time, which, the controllers, we separate them,” he said. But if there is no tower, he continued, pilots who don’t know the airport could crash. Even worse, the traffic controllers will no longer notify pilots about migrating birds, or commercial airplanes from Sacramento International Airport.
