Condi Rice to Form Bipartisan Immigration Reform Group

Former National Security Adviser and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice will form a bipartisan group with high-profile Republicans and Democrats to find solutions to the country’s immigration problem.

Rice will join forces with Haley Barbour, the former Republican Mississippi governor and RNC Chair during the GOP’s historic “Contract with America” 1994 midterm elections. It has been said Barbour, with his fundraising prowess, paid for the microphone Newt Gingrich used to nationalize that election in favor of Republicans, allowing the GOP to win the House for the first time since 1954.

Two Democrats will join Rice and Barbour. They are former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and Henry Cisneros, who was the Housing and Urban Development Secretary under President Bill Clinton.
