What purport to be new emails regarding the alleged prostitution sex scandal surrounding New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, just obtained by Breitbart News, show that the FBI agent involved in the investigation offered, as recently as last week, to fly the original source of the story from the Dominican Republic to Miami to help with the agency’s inquiry into the matter.

“I think we need to deal with this situation as soon as possible and I think we need to do this together,” FBI special agent Regino Chavez wrote to the man using the name Peter Williams on January 22nd. “I believe that the best thing for you to do is to meet with me away from the Dominican Republic in a location where you can feel safe.”

Chavez proceeded to detail how the source may be worried about being followed or retaliated against in some way for talking to federal investigators.

“I can make arrangements for you to fly to Miami, Florida, so that we can meet in a place where you don’t have to worry about being watched or followed,” Chavez wrote. “We will pay for your air plane fare, your lodging, and incidentals, so that you don’t have to worry abut incurring expenses. We can make these arrangement [sic] fairly quickly so let me know as soon as you can.”

Chavez’s offer was in response to an email (also provided to Breitbart News) that Williams purportedly sent him the day before on January 21st. “The situation is out of control,” Williams wrote to Chavez in that email. “I’ve tried, with no success, to contact my lawyer, whom I suspect is not in the country. He is the one I was referring to when I said about the inconvenient that showed up. I’m so concerned with all. He’s got copies of everything we’ve worked on and now I know he’s been pressured by some politicians. I don’t doubt he’s been bribed, or threatened. This is out of my reach.”

“I don’t know what to think, I’m really confused,” Williams added. “I’m concerned how this could affect the girls. I haven’t told them yet. Let me try to clarify this situation first and then we’ll arrange our meeting.”

In providing these emails to Breitbart News, Williams said that “[s]ince de [sic] very beginning I explained to the FBI and CREW [the George Soros-funded Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington] I wanted a serious investigation and not a public scandal.”

“Unfortunately, for reasons beyond my control, this investigation went public prematurely and without my consent,” Williams added in the note to Breitbart News. “Now my situation is critical, and even more that of the people who trusted me.”

Williams added that he’s “certain” that “sooner or later, Menendez and [Salomon] Melgen will face justice.”

A week after Special Agent Chavez’s January 22nd email, the FBI raided the Miami offices of Dr. Salomon Melgen, a wealthy Democratic donor reportedly connected to Menendez’s alleged solicitation of prostitutes in the Dominican Republic.

A current Dominican Republic government official told this reporter, while reporting for The Daily Caller last year before joining Breitbart News, that Menendez allegedly visited the wealthy eye doctor’s personal villa at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic. While there, the official claimed they engaged in wild parties full of “sex, hookers and drinking.”

Williams didn’t immediately respond to a request from Breitbart News about whether he did indeed meet with the FBI in Miami, or in some other capacity, in the past week or so leading up to the Melgen raid.

In reporting on the FBI raid on Melgen’s offices, the Miami Herald’s Marc Caputo notes that it’s “unclear” whether the investigation does indeed have to do with Menendez’s alleged solicitation of supposedly underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic. “The exact focus of the investigation is unclear, as is whether it is tied to Menendez, a Democrat,” Caputo wrote.
