Janet Napolitano will stay on as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. She has been the longest serving secretary in DHS history.
During her tenure, Ms. Napolitano has claimed the southern border is as secure as ever, but evidence contradicts her. She has denied any knowledge of Operation Fast & Furious, the gun-walking scheme that allowed guns to land in the hands on Mexican drug cartels.
Republicans have criticized her and the administration for not taking steps to reform America’s immigration laws. President Obama did promise immigration would be a priority, and this will place Ms. Napolitano in the spotlight. With her returning, she now has another four years to help immigration reform happen.
She will be back along with Attorney General Eric Holder, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sabelius, and Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.
