On April 27, 1995, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) spoke at the US Senate hearing on terrorism shortly after the Oklahoma City bombing on how she obtained a concealed carry permit in the early 1970’s due to threats she received.

She states:

“I know the sense of helplessness that people feel. I know the urge to arm yourself because that’s what I did. I was trained in firearms. I walked to the hospital when my husband was sick. I carried a concealed weapon and I made the determination if somebody was going to try and take me out, I was going to take them with me.”

This CCW permit was obtained in San Francisco, CA which would make it one of the only permits- if not the only such permit- at the time given their strict gun laws.

Now, on the heels of horrific tragedies, Sen. Feinstein is politicizing the events and pushing for greater gun control. She is widely recognized as one of the biggest anti-gun and anti-NRA advocates in Washington, D.C. In 1994, she championed the federal assault weapons ban which expired ten years later due to sunset provisions.

On February 5, 1995 during a “60 Minutes” interview, she commented she’d get an “out right ban” if she could while discussing the assault weapons law.

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out right ban, picking up every one of them…Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in. I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here.”

An out right ban on ‘assault weapons’ across the board or guns in general?

All of this begs the question: So it’s okay for her to obtain a firearm, but she wants to take weapons away from people- who for the most part- are law abiding citizens, ultimately leaving guns in the hands of only criminals?

It doesn’t get any more hypocritical than this.
