Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam told a meeting of the Nashville Rotary Club on Monday that the state of Tennessee will not be establishing a health care exchange to implement Obamacare.
The surprise decision was seen as a political victory for Tennessee tea party groups, which held a rally last week on the grounds of the State Capitol in Nashville to proclaim their opposition to the establishment of a health care exchange by the state.
Tennessee joins a growing number of states that have decided not to establish a state run health care exchange. Only seventeen of the fifty states to date have reportedly agreed to establish state-run health care exchanges.
