Former CIA Director David Petraeus has agreed to testify behind closed doors this week in separate appearances before the House and Senate Intelligence Committees about the attack on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya.
The Hill reported late Wednesday that Petraeus will testify before the House Intelligence Committee on Friday, and his Senate testimony will be given either Thursday or Friday.
Petraeus is offering his testimony voluntarily but has apparently received assurances that he will not be questioned about the details of the extramarital affair that brought about his resignation.
Earlier reports speculated that Petraeus might offer his testimony “off-site,” but it’s unclear now whether the testimony before both committees will take place on Capitol Hill or elsewhere.
