Holder Not Sure if 'Gas Left in the Tank' for Four More Years

Eric Holder says he has not decided whether he will continue as Attorney General during Obama’s second term in office.

Holder was speaking to a group of law students at the University of Baltimore Thursday. He indicated he will speak to his family and to the President about what comes next. The key question he’ll ask himself is, “Do I have some gas left in the tank?” He added, “That’s something that I’m in the process now of trying to determine.”

While over one hundred members of Congress have called for Holder’s resignation in the past year, he still has support from the President and Democratic members of Congress. An inspector general investigation into the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal officially cleared Holder of wrongdoing.

Scandals aside, it is not unusual for an Attorney General to step aside after four years. In 2004, George Bush nominated Alberto Gonzales to replace John Ashcroft who, like Holder, was a target for critics.
