Al Sharpton berated the crowd of 300 people at a GOTV rally in a Baptist church in Bridgeport, Connecticut Monday, shaming the attendees who might not vote.
“Nobody’s shooting you, nobody is bombing your churches, nobody is threatening you,” he proclaimed. “You are just too lazy and ungrateful to get out and vote.”
In attendance at the event were Gov. Dannel Malloy (D), Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman (D), U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D), U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D), and U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy (D), who is in a toss-up race for a U.S. Senate seat with Linda McMahon (R). Mayor Bill Finch (D) of Bridgeport was also present.
Sharpton continued, “This is not about what you like, this is about whether you like yourself. Things are too serious for us to be joking… Everything is at stake in this election. We can’t allow them to turn back the clock.”
