It’s like a corrupt media ritual. The moment a Republican enters the Oval Office, America’s homeless are suddenly discovered, dragged before news cameras, and used as props to prove how heartless the current administration is. But as soon as a Democrat assumes office, the homeless suddenly disappear – presumably to a place with chocolate rivers and peppermint trees that only Democrat presidents are able to magically manifest as soon as the oath of office is complete.
The media’s been even worse with Barack Obama. Not only have the homeless vanished from news coverage, but so have America’s poor. But as NBC’s David Gregory made clear, if you even try to bring up the record number of food stamp recipients Barack Obama’s failed policies have created, you’ll be labeled a racist.
Beyond food stamps, by some reports, the poverty level itself is set to explode to record levels in the fall once a new census report is released. But if past is prologue, you can expect the media to smother that news, because over the last few days, the media has smothered this news:
Report: 17M Americans short of food last year
The number of poor Americans who repeatedly ran short of food shot up by 800,000 in 2011 to nearly 17 million compared with 2010, the U.S. government said on Wednesday.
The Department of Agriculture said in a report that about 5.5 percent of Americans, or nearly 17 million, suffered “very low food security” last year, meaning they had to skip meals or not eat for a day because of a lack of money to buy food. That is a rise of 800,000 over the prior year, it said.
The food-security report was released one day after the government said that a record 46.7 million Americans were enrolled for food stamps in June, up by 173,000 in May.
Listen, I’m as skeptical as anyone of these kinds of numbers and find phrases like “food insecurity” a little too open for interpretation. Moreover, it’s hard to reconcile studies like this with studies that claim obesity is a problem among low-income Americans. But my point isn’t the veracity of the study; it’s that our left-wing media believes these studies but constantly covers them one up to protect Obama from bad news.
According to a study the corrupt media would explode in to a week-long narrative about if a Republican was running for reelection, nearly a million more people ran short of food this year over last year. But other than dutifully reporting this fact, hardly a word was spoken about it.
What is a cold, hard fact, though, is that in the last accounting available to us (May), America’s food stamp rolls increased by 173,000. In the last jobs numbers available to us (August), only 96,000 new jobs were created.
Yes, this is the record of a president running for reelection with the slogan “Forward.”
Do your job, mainstream media, people are suffering.
Time to see the bigger moral world above your personal desire to see Obama reelected and report the truth.
