It’s clear that Barack Obama and his Democrats are out of ideas; they are using their party’s ancient and antiquated technique of painting the Republican Party as reactionary. The latest example came today courtesy of fly-by-night Los Angeles mayor and Democratic National Convention chairman Antonio Villaraigosa. Appearing on Fox News Sunday, he said that the Republican platform “looks like the platform of 1812”, adding “Reagan would be turning in his grave” to hear some of the proposals coming from the GOP.
This ignorant attack from the man who failed the Californian bar four times isn’t surprising; it fits the general meme laced throughout the Democrats’ campaign over the last year as they geared up for 2012: Republicans are Neanderthals who want to take us back to the 1950’s:
Barack Obama: “They want to take us back to the policies more suited to the 1950s than the 21st century.”
Bill Clinton: “There has never been in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the Jim Crow burdens on voting, the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today.”
Keith Ellison, “These same people who want to shrink government until you can drown it in the bathtub also want mom … to get back in the kitchen and take her shoes off and get pregnant. They are offended by strong powerful women.”
There’s your classic Democrat list: the GOP wants the 1950’s back, they want to disenfranchise voters, they wage a war on women.
Shall we point out a few things here to edify the poor, cretinous, benighted, nescient Democrats? (If there are Dems reading this, we’ll help you out with the big words; they mean stupid.)
Clinton first.
Which party is it that routinely cheats on votes? In 2000, 15,000 or more Bush votes were destroyed in Democrat-controlled Palm Beach County. Officials there reported 19,120 ballots were marked for more than one candidate — nearly ten times the error rate for the rest of the state. Law enforcement officials said stacks of paper ballots were invalidated because those loyal to Al Gore pushed a thin prod through the Gore column, invalidating votes for Bush while leaving those for Gore intact.
In 1993, Congress passed the National Voter Registration Act, which made it illegal to check the IDs of applicants and ordered the states to allow registration by mail. This prepared the way for ACORN. Democrats have attacked anti-fraud proposals for years, most specifically requiring voters to show identification, despite the fact that 82% of Americans think a photo ID should be required to vote.
Now let’s shred Ellison. Would he like to know who is the one who thinks women should be in the kitchen? Let him guess which ardent supporter of Barack Obama tweeted this on July 6, intimating women belong in the kitchen:
“If you’re a woman for Obama, say it loud and proud on a bumper, laptop, or fridge“
Why it was none other than Obama’s biggest supporter: Barack Obama!
As for the GOP not liking strong women; let’s see if Ellison can count to five: how many women governors are from the GOP and how many from the Democrats? Whoa, Mr. Defender of Women; there are 5 Republicans and 2 Democrats.
Lastly, the Anointed One’s contention that the GOP wants to take the country back to the 1950’s. It has been obvious for some time now that Obama is terribly ignorant of history; he’s constantly rewriting history so it appears his presence was foreordained, placing his name in every historical account he can find. May we remind the Narcissistic One of a few facts here:
- The economy overall grew by 37% during the 1950s.
- By 1960, the median American family had 30% more purchasing power than in 1950.
- There was low unemployment — and we had a balanced budget.
- Segregation was a central policy for Democrats.
But most of all, when Obama and his minions rail about the GOP wanting to return to the 1950’s, what there really saying is this: what followed was better.
And that means the 1960’s.
That’s their true agenda; they are the ones who want to go back in time; they want to return us to the 1960’s, a time of chaos, hatred of institutions and tradition, lack of respect for those who came before, and a mission to worship at the altar of leftist thought. The party that truly wants to turn back the clock isn’t the GOP; it’s the Democrats, and the possibility of the 1960’s writ large is truly a terrifying prospect.
