The Republican Party recently ratified their party platform and used the occasion to include a condemnation of Operation Fast & Furious.
Fast & Furious was a Department of Justice operation where the ATF allowed over 2,000 guns to walk into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. This “gun walking” resulted in the deaths of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and over 300 Mexican citizens. Thousands of guns are still missing and no one within the DOJ has been held accountable. Major players have either been allowed to resign quietly or reassigned to different positions.
The Democrats have pushed aside the issue and avoided naming the responsible officials, but the Republicans will not stop investigating until they find answers.
On page 13, under their support for the Second Amendment, the GOP condemns Fast and Furious and state their agreement with holding Mr. Holder in contempt.
“We condemn the reckless actions associated with the operation known as ‘Fast and Furious,’ conducted by the Department of Justice, which resulted in the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent and others on both sides of the border,” the document states.
“We applaud the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in holding the current Administration’s Attorney General in contempt of Congress for his refusal to cooperate with their investigation into the debacle.”
