William Hoover has resigned as Deputy Director from the ATF because of the scathing report put out by Republicans detailing his role in Operation Fast & Furious. Mr. Hoover stood by and allowed guns to keep walking to Mexican drug cartels instead of intervening.
Mr. Hoover was the ATF’s deputy director from 2009-2011 before being reassigned once Fast & Furious became public. The report put together by Representative Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley states Mr. Hoover did not intervene in Fast & Furious because he felt it was not his job to say anything.
No one within the Department of Justice has been held responsible for the deadly consequences of Fast & Furious. They’ve either been allowed to resign quietly like Mr. Hoover or are “reassigned” to new positions.
Criminals used guns from Fast & Furious to murder Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and 300+ Mexicans, including Mario Gonzalez, brother of then-State Attorney General Patricia Gonzalez. 1,400 of the 2,000+ guns are still missing.
