A new ad from the Obama campaign targeting women says that Mitt Romney’s campaign makes it  “a scary time to be a woman.”

First, a woman identified only as “Jenni” states, “I’ve never felt this way before, but it’s a scary time to be a woman. Mitt Romney is just so out of touch.”

Then, a female narrator continues, “Romney opposes requiring insurance coverage for contraception and Romney supports overturning Roe vs. Wade. Romney backed a bill that outlawed all abortion, even in cases of rape and incest.”

Back to Jenni: “There’s so much to do. [W]e need to attack our problems, not a woman’s choice.”

First, the claims of the ad are shamefully inaccurate; Romney has never been in favor of outlawing abortion in cases of rape or incest.

Second, it is Obama who has mandated that religious employers pay for their employees’ contraceptives via insurance. Why should employers have to pay for contraception when it’s a woman’s own decision whether she sleeps with someone or not? Feminists can’t have it both ways: if they want women to enjoy the same kind of stupid libertine behavior that men often do, then they should be responsible enough to pay for it themselves.

But third, and most importantly, Jenni is correct: this is a scary time to be a woman, thanks to Barack Obama. Women are dropping out of the labor force in droves because the economy is so terrible.
