Despite the massive popularity of medical marijuana in the city of Los Angeles – and the plethora of marijuana “clinics” dedicated to distributing the stuff – the City Council voted unanimously to ban all clinics in the city. The council did say that a plan allowing 182 dispensaries to open up later would be considered; those 182 are widely considered more legitimate than other clinics. But as of now, 762 registered clinics will be shut down.

“This is a much more clear-cut measure than we have had,” said City Councilman Jose Huizar. “The state law never included dispensaries. We are saying they will not be allowed in the city of Los Angeles.” Hospices, medical facilities, and home health agencies will be allowed to grow marijuana.
