Late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, in Richmond, Virginia, a bus the Romney campaign was using for events had its alternator belt cut. Romney was not on the bus himself. The bus was parked outside a gun show at the Showplace in Henrico. Incapacitated, the bus was unable to be used for a mobile phone bank called “Moms for Mitt” that had been scheduled in Leesburg, Virginia, Sunday morning. The bus was repaired in time for a voter registration event in Springfield, Virginia from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Mark Lilly, who owns the Farm to Family Market across the street from the Showplace, said he thought the bus had to have been sabotaged in a stealthy way because of the strong police presence at gun shows.
“It was probably targeted. I can see where someone would think it was politically charged,” he said.
