American Enterprise Institute President Arthur Brooks, author of the book, The Road To Freedom, has shown conservatives how to easily debunk liberal myths about free enterprise and how to more effectively argue on its behalf.
Brooks has been cutting a series of short videos that conservatives can use to more effectively and efficiently make the case for free enterprise. In the most recent video in the series, exclusively provided to Breitbart News, Brooks tackles the liberal myth that “free enterprise breeds materialism.”
“Free enterprise isn’t about materialism,” Brooks says, “It’s about earned success.”
Brooks says that “bad values make people into materialists and consumerists” and “the worst materialism I’ve ever seen happens in socialistic systems.”
“When governments set people against each other in a race to get government resources, there’s nothing more materialistic than that,” Brooks says. “The least materialistic people I’ve ever met are entrepreneurs, people who are living their dreams every day.”
Brooks passionately says that free enterprise is “generative,” “aspirational” and “makes people into entrepreneurs so they can define their earned success the way they want.”
“Free enterprise sets us free,” Brooks argues.
