It appears former U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson was simply thinking ahead when he crashed his Mercedes into a Lynx bus around Noon in Orlando today. There’s nothing quite like having a fresh car wreck story en route to a fundraiser where you’re scheduled to share a podium with a member of the Kennedy clan. Unfortunately, it appears there were no serious injuries, so he’ll have to do better next time if he wants to best RFK Jr’s family driving record.
A news release for Grayson’s campaign event stated it was scheduled from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the penthouse of some local Democrats in The Vue, a high-rise condominium near Lake Eola. Featured guests included noted environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and actress Cheryl Hines. The suggested contribution for those attending was $1,000.
The accident was Grayson’s fault and reports indicate he was ticketed. Video at link.
Grayson, a congressional candidate who was on his way to a campaign fundraising event, ran a red light and struck the bus, reports show. Two people aboard the bus suffered slight injuries.
This isn’t the first time Grayson’s had a problem with a red light district. Grayson is infamous for calling a lobbyist a “K Street whore” in Otober of 2009.
“…this lobbyist, this K Street Whore, is trying to teach me about economics.”
Rep. Alan Grayson, a Democrat from Florida, was roundly criticized by fellow policymakers yesterday for directing a derogatory term at a colleague. On a radio program, Grayson called Linda Robinson, an adviser to Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, a “K street whore.” Grayson’s camp has refused to backpedal from the term, instead releasing a statement urging the media to “be clear about the context.” According to a Grayson spokesperson, “The attack was on her professional career, not her personal life.”
