My Generous Open Letter Offer To Mr. Bill Press

Liberal talk show host Bill Press recently said he sees no difference between the allegations against Herman Cain and that of a child-sex abusing ex-Penn State coach stating,

“What’s the difference, really? There’s no difference. I mean, okay, we have maybe sexual assault in the case of Sandusky (Penn State coach), but let me tell you something, assuming, and if what Sharon Bialek says is correct, that’s a lot more than sexual harassment on Herman Cain’s part.”

Hmmm. Mr. Press sees no difference between the eye witness account of the alleged rape of a 10-year old boy in the locker room shower by 57-year old Jerry Sandusky and that of the allegations of sexual harassment against Herman Cain?

Mr. Press in order to help you clear your thinking I make this generous offer:

I challenge you to three minutes in the ring to see if that helps you clear your head and change your perception of events. Deal? After all competitive sporting activities have been known to be a life enriching experience for participants at any age.

Now I understand that since there is a significant age difference between myself and the elderly Press and since (I am going to go out on a limb here) I assume Press has never trained under a former world champion in Brazilian jiu jitsu as I have had the honor of doing, then I must look mighty cowardly in my generous offer.

Under any other circumstance I would be in complete agreement but not in this instance. You see I fully expect Mr. Press to overlook these items as mere inconveniences just as he has chosen to do with the 10-year old boy and the 57-year old former Penn State football coach.

Think about it Mr. Press. It turns out that if you accept my offer you will actually be helping to support the victims in some small way (at last count it is believed eight young boys have allegedly been sodomized by Sandusky). You see ever since I first tweeted you my generous offer this past weekend (which I have yet to hear back) people have responded by saying they would be willing to pay to see the event if proceeds go to the victims and their families. Your chance to do a good deed.

Bill Press’ statement is disgusting on its’ face value but it is also disgusting for an additional reason: he chose to take the low road by injecting politics.

This is not a political story and even in this day and age of a polarized America decent people of all political stripes and ideologies are united in their disgust at what occurred and in their support for the alleged child victims.

But since Mr. Press decided to introduce politics it is only worth pointing out that he had an entirely different point of view during the Clinton impeachment process. Back then while on CNN’s Crossfire he argued in support of then President Bill Clinton (inaccurately by the way) that “there’s never been another case in the history of this nation where someone has been indicted for lying about sex in a civil case.” I guess it’s only a problem with Mr. Press when the allegations are made against a republican.

Three minutes in the ring and proceeds go to the victims. My guess is the phone feels awfully heavy right about now.
