Gas Roots Activism: The Tea Party Strikes Again!

The Left has stealthily worked for decades to forever change this country, with the Agitator-in-Chief’s policies threatening to push us all off the economic cliff before 2012. Yet the Left has an almost hysterical fear of the Tea Party, because it represents the one great unknown that the best laid plans of the Left- even with billions of Soros money – cannot foretell: the resourcefulness and spirit of Americans.

And that great, innovative American spirit has done it again. Without billions, millions, thousands, hundreds or even tens of dollars; without strategy sessions, focus groups, coordination with media “Journolists” or anything else, patriotic Americans have launched another devastating offensive in what has come to be called the “Sticky Note Campaign.”

Sticky notes and flyers are being attached to gas pumps, at grocery stores and retail outlets all over the country, reminding people who we can thank for all this “change.”

There is a Facebook site and a few other postings. On the strength of these things alone, this idea has gone viral. The flyer above first appeared at Disrupt the Narrative where you can download and print the PDF. A clever modification appeared here.

In anticipation of the screaming Leftists shouting “liar, liar!” I will note that the flyer does not provide the exact quote. Obama was referring to utility rates: “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

However, also in the interest of full disclosure I will remind readers that after cap and trade legislation failed to pass Congress last year Obama has outrageously attempted to give the EPA authority to impose it by regulatory fiat.

I will also note that the Obama administration banned oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico -defying a court order to do so – costing the devastated Gulf States thousands of jobs. Meanwhile his EPA has continued to stifle further oil production and exploration elsewhere in the U.S.

So while Obama may have not said “energy rates” the flyer certainly catches the spirit of Obama’s mindset. To add insult to injury, the U.S. government just gave $2 billion in subsidies to Brazil’s state-owned Petrobras to support oil exploration off the coast of South America.

This is really a target rich environment. Obama promised “trillion dollar deficits for years to come…” Promise kept.

Obama promised to let SEIU own him. He said, “Imagine having a president whose life’s work was your work…” Former SEIU President Andy Stern is now the top White House visitor. Promise kept.

Meanwhile, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka brags that he visits the White House two or three times a week and has daily contact. Promise kept.

How’s that Hopey Changey working out for you, Wisconsin?

He also promised ACORN they would be allowed to help him “shape the agenda…” Promise kept.

Here are a few more sticky messages:

• The kind of gas Obama delivers is not the kind we need! NOBAMA 2012!
• I want to drown in oil not debt! NOBAMA 2012!
• Keep your hope. We want Freedom for a change! NOBAMA 2012!

With typical Tea Party scruples, all the websites carrying this story urge would-be Sticky Note Campaigners not to be destructive in any way. They advise you to place the sticky note in such a way that it will not impede any customer’s ability to see prices, read the gas pump’s digital readout, or operate any of the equipment.

I would contrast this with the way Obama’s union buddies behave when they are trying to make a point, or the way a rally site looks after the Leftists leave versus the Tea Party, but you already know the answer.
